Travelling fishers should please take note of the following:

On Wednesday, November 1, 2006 a meeting of the Cabinet of the Irish Government accepted the report of the Independent Salmon Group which was established to examine the Implications of Alignment with the Scientific Advice for the Commercial Salmon Fishing Sector in 2007 and Beyond.
This means a complete cessation of drift net fishing or any other form of harvesting outside rivers and estuaries in Ireland.
For more information, see http://www.ireland-salmon-fishing.net/News/News.htm

New Regulations are now in effect for the coming season. Please see the relevant Central Fisheries Board pages here. Please note that the opening or closing of rivers is redressed annually.

Certain rivers have new bag limits that change depending on the date within the fishing season, other rivers have been closed completely and yet others have been opened solely for catch and release. See relevant Central Fisheries Board pages here.

Welcome to the Ballymaquirk Fishery website.

There are a number of changes for 2008 with a full time ghille now included in the weekly rates. A lot of work has been done on the river to allow access to stretches of the river previously inaccessible.

As enquiries are now coming through the internet and email we have discontinued the print version of our brochure. However if you need we will print the relevant sections of this site and post them to you.

In the blue section on the right, we will endeavour to keep you updated as much as possible on the river and anything that may be relevant to your stay in Ireland.

Tight Lines for 2008!
